Infant – Seeds

WELCOME TO THE SEEDS PROGRAM

Ages 6 weeks to around 18 months old

Our infant programs serve our youngest learners. Babies go through incredible development during these stages. They’re exploring, learning early language skills, exploring their emerging skills, and beginning to play. Our programs are tailored to their needs for nurturing and learning.

THERE ARE FOUR COMPONENTS TO OUR INFANT PROGRAM:
Language Development
Physical Development
Cognitive Development
Social & Emotional Development

SEEDS 1

This classroom is designed for babies 6 weeks to around 10 months old. It’s a calm and inviting home-away-from-home.  Relaxing music is played throughout the day and “pods” are set up for learning experiences.

Pods are our version of “stations” for little ones. They are different areas of the room that are set up with materials for the child to explore. For instance, one pod may have items that make sound while another could be set up with books and a variety of photographs.

Each Seeds 1 student is assigned his or her own crib and ample storage is provided for each student’s belongings.  A refrigerator is available in the classroom to store any perishable food, bottles, or breastmilk brought in for the day.  There is no set classroom schedule in Seeds 1.  Parents provide monthly updates of their child’s schedule for teachers to follow.

SEEDS 2

The Seeds 2 classroom serves our mobile infants, from approximately 10–18 months of age.  This classroom is designed to foster a mobile infant’s need to move and explore.  Classroom equipment and materials are selected to encourage both physical and cognitive development.

Each Seeds 2 student is assigned his or her own cot for nap time.  While transitioning from the Seeds 1 class, a student may use one of our evacuation cribs until he or she is ready to sleep on a cot.  A refrigerator is available to store any perishable food items.  Storage is provided for each student’s personal belongings.  Students, teachers, and parents must remove their footwear before entering this classroom to keep the floors clean.  Siblings are not allowed to enter this classroom, and teachers are happy to assist with drop-off and pick-up when a parent has more than one child.

Seeds 2 is the first classroom where there are scheduled group mealtimes and lights-off naptime.  When students first start in Seeds 2, teachers will accommodate individual schedules while transitioning the students to the group schedule.  Even when a child has adjusted to the group routine, there is still plenty of room for a child’s individual needs.

Yet

Yet is the magic word! We want our students to have a “can do” attitude, never give up, have a positive self-image, and a growth mindset.

Creativity

Teachers plan activities for the children to explore the world around them.  Children are provided opportunities to use their senses and begin the early stages of creative expression.

Exploration

Spending time in the fresh air is very important. We take our little ones out each day the weather permits. We have a play area on site and on warmer days will take strollers out and walk around the center property.

Music & Movement

What is better than making our own sounds! This space is equipped with various materials for making music!  Miss Katie visits every Wednesday to provide a music program geared to our youngest musicians!

Language

Language is a very important piece to any educational setting. In this space a variety of reading materials are made available to the children. Photographs with text are also placed on the walls at their height to make viewing more comfortable.

Our Creative Curriculum

This comprehensive curriculum features exploration and discovery to help children learn. We enable young students to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills to fuel each child’s success.
