January at Bloomingdale Day Care came in hot—and by “hot,” we of course mean absolutely freezing with record-breaking amounts of snow, but also bursting with excitement, creativity, and approximately 200 glue sticks. Despite the blizzards, ice, and the general vibe of living inside a snow globe, we kicked off 2026 with two major events: the grand opening of our newest classroom, Sprouts 3, and our Annual BDC Science Fair!

Let’s start with the big news: Sprouts 3 is officially open!
Thanks to increased enrollment (and some new faces cute enough to melt even the iciest of snowbanks), we expanded our toddler program to welcome more families from Bloomingdale, Butler, Riverdale, Kinnelon, West Milford, Pompton Lakes, Haskell, and Wanaque. We’re incredibly grateful for this growth—every new student adds more joy, more laughter, and yes… more glitter (so much glitter).
Sprouts 3 opened with the energy of a grand opening at Disney World—minus the fireworks, plus more juice boxes. Our teachers worked tirelessly transforming the space, setting up learning centers, and preparing activities that would make even a seasoned toddler stop mid-snow-boot tantrum and say, “Ooooh!” We couldn’t be prouder of our team or more excited for the tiny explorers who now get to call this classroom home.

And then came the event everyone looks forward to each year:
The Annual BDC Science Fair!

Our little scientists arrived ready to hypothesize, experiment, and occasionally remind us that baking soda and vinegar are not toys (even though they look extremely tempting). Every classroom displayed a project—from magnetic mysteries to color explosions to anything that fizzed, foamed, or made teachers subtly step backward.
Parents toured our makeshift “laboratories,” admiring the creativity, curiosity, and occasional glitter bomb disguised as a project. Watching our students explain their experiments with the confidence of tiny Bill Nyes was a highlight—not to be outshined by the perfectly timed real-life snowstorm happening outside, proving that nature also wanted in on Science Fair Week.
A huge thank you to our amazing families for braving the snow, supporting our events, and welcoming home mysterious-but-sticky “science residue.” January reminded us once again why our BDC community is so special.
We can’t wait to see what February brings—though after the volcano-slime incident, all Mentos and soda have been safely relocated to the top shelf (and possibly behind lock and key).
